Environmentally Sensitive Reclamation
An integral part of RiverStone’s quarry planning and operations is the eventual reclamation of the site, once the transitional use of the property is complete. Reclaimed quarries provide excellent sites for a wide range of end uses. Several of our former quarries now serve as recreational lakes and wildlife habitat sites, providing tranquil and serene settings for both our human; as well as our natural neighbors.
Crushed Stone……A Natural Component of a Clean & Healthy Environment
In addition to being a major component of virtually every construction project, aggregate products such as those produced by RiverStone are instrumental in the efforts to ensure we have clean air to breathe and clean water for our daily needs. RiverStone produces limestone which is used to reduce the stack emissions of coal burning power plants. Farmers use our agricultural lime to maintain a balanced PH in the soil of their fields. Proper use of agricultural lime reduces the amount of man made fertilizer necessary to produce our food crops, thereby reducing the occurrence of hypoxia, which can harm the fish stock and other aquatic species in our streams and rivers.
RiverStone is proactive in its efforts to maintain the safest working environment throughout its operations. Regularly scheduled personnel safety training meetings and classes are but one of the many components of the company’s award winning safety program. RiverStone has been recognized by industry and government as being among the leaders in the aggregate industry for its proactive and aggressive approach to ensuring the health and safety of its workforce.
